Did You Know?

In 1869, the Women’s Rights Movement began.

In 1920, the 19th Amendment was passed, allowing women to vote.

In 1963, the Equal Pay Act was passed, abolishing wage disparity based on sex.

In 1972, Title IX is passed, prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that is federally funded.

Are you too busy to share your voice about modern politics? The answer of course is a resounding NO when put in the context of women’s suffrage, women’s right to vote, and the remarkable women who fought and continue to fight for equality.

Meet Nicole Wild Merl, mom, advocate for women and girls, post-graduate student and Co-founder of Women Voters USA. Nicole says “At first I thought I couldn’t take it on, then I realized what a truly special time this is when women announce their candidacies to run for president of the United States, and found a way to combine my studies with a political purpose. Today, we continue our work with one common goal: to engage women to vote.”

Can Men Join Too? Of Course!!

Meet Thomas Cook, an entrepreneur, mentor, philanthropist and Co-founder of Women Voters USA who wanted to show how he cares through his support of the initiative and sponsorship of the first-ever virtual Education Cooperative at Northeastern University to help advocate for Nicole to achieve her educational and professional goals. And, with this bold idea Women Voters USA was created and dedicated to the importance of the women’s vote and how it will influence American politics now and for future generations.
